my stepchildren are horrible and are threatening us with legal action. can they do this and what can i do?

In most states spanking and "switching" a child of any age is illegal. At 16 they are both too old for corporal punishment. While not necessarily sexually inappropriate to spank the step daughter’s bare buttocks while leaning over a bed. It’s just flat out wrong.

Where can I find the vibrancy and night life in Cape Town?
Aside from the V and A waterfront that is. I went there a few years ago in March, and it was pretty quiet at night. I thought that places such as Long Street would be buzzing, as it was still summer, with balmy evenings (this is the San Francisco of Africa after all). However, there was hardly anybody about.

Where in Cape Town can I find life, and people in the evenings?

Also, are there any lively hostels in the city aside from the Ashanti Lodge in Gardens?

The V&A is nice at nice with live bands playing and what what. It depends when you were in Long street. Also, Edward Street in the Northern Suburbs has a nice strip consisting of clubs and pubs.
The beach front in Table View is still a good place to go on a Friday. There is Stones, Babaloos, Cabana, Medleys & Buckleys.

Are you asking about the company called "silver bullets" in Oregon, or the bullets made out of silver?
Bullets made out of silver are a specialty item that really isn’t offered. You would have to contact someone who not only reloads, but also casts their own bullets. And, if you were to truly want to fire one, you would have to be certain of the silver content first, a hard cast with low silver content would be so hard it could conceivably damage a firearm.

You can make a silver bullet the same way you make any other sort of ammunition. Until the last few years when the supplies became hard to find and expensive, many people reloaded ammunition as a hobby. The trick for making a silver bullet would be that you would have to melt the silver (not too difficult, but a bit expensive) and cast it a bullet mold yourself.

If you really want to do this, I suggest you learn regular ammunition reloading, first, to get some practice. And don’t be surprised if it permanently damages the firearm.

They did this on one of those cable channels like Discovery or History Channel. They had a gun guy cast and load a silver bullet. Not difficult to do if you load your own ammo and have some silver to work with. What they found was that the silver was too hard for the rifling grooves to grip the bullet and accuracy suffered. Hitting the target beyond 10 feet proved problematic. A gold alloy would probably yield more accurate results.

I am a reloading and bullet casting instructor.

This is actually considerable work to create the projectile. AK Luis gave a good web site above. The ‘issue’ is you cannot use a standard lead mould, because the shrinkage of the lead is taken into consideration when creating the mould. Silver shrinks differently. Something to note – casting silver bullets is only done by people who plan on making allot of them.

An easier way – have the bullets created on a lathe by a machinist using thick silver solid gauge wire. This will allow you to get the tolerances to the + and – .002" needed for proper shooting. That, and any left over ‘waste’ from the process is easily picked up and returned to the jewelery for credit.

Another idea – if you can live with silver plated bullets – is to get a silver plating kit. These are easy to find online, quite inexpensive, and easy to do at home. You can quickly plate a bunch of bullets and then have them installed in a cartridge by a reloader.

In 30 packs of your local liquor store haha sorry I had too. You would have to cast your own in most cases and an alloy would be best as pure silver is too hard to fire through a rifled barrel.

Edit- A silver bullet would be solid silver where a silver plated bullet would be made of another material such as lead and then "coated" with silver plating. Almost like a jacketed bullet but not quite the same.

buy silver bullion, only 1-2 ounces, around $40-$50.
make a clay (unfired) or plaster mold from a large caliber bullet, such as a .50 BMG bullet.
heat the silver in a steel crucible to about 1780 F
warm the mold to about 600 F
pour the silver into the mold,
have it cool for 15-20 minutes.
then toss it in warm water to have it cool the rest of the way. this may take hours.
break the mold and polish the bullet.

you can also make gold bullets the same way, but these days gold at 1200 an ounce I don’t think you can afford a 600 dollar bullet.

avoid smaller bullets, you’ll be working with stuff that requires high levels of precision, this may not be a good first try caliber.

I do not recommend shooting these bullets. especially in modern firearms. blackpowder is ok, but with the higher pressures of modern guns it may end in catastrophe.

The one theory is, if you didn’t have kids, you wouldn’t need to make as much money, so you’d work LESS.

Another theory is, you’d be less encumbered and/or needing to spend quality time with the kids, so you’d have MORE time to work.

I think I’d work less — but more smartly. Currently, I work jobs with some stability — can’t be unemployed with a kid. But if I were childless, I’d be more of an entrepreneur, taking chances. I’d make more cash per hour doing that, so could work less.

My best friend suggested that I'm anorexic; does this food diary sound like I am, or is she just jealous?
My best friend said that my body weight is too low (I just turned 15 and I’m 5′6 and 112 pounds), and then she sort of implied that I’m anorexic. Let me list what I ate today though (I keep a food journal):

Breakfast 9:05
Multigrain and all natural, flavorless oatmeal made completely with whole grains, barley, oats, etc (according to the ingredients list), one cup of soymilk, one tablespoon honey, two tablespoons flaxseed, six dried apricots, 12 almonds, and a medium sized apple.

Lunch-type meal that I made small because I had tennis right after: 12:15

Half cup of soymilk, half cup of Kashi cereal, two tangerines, three ounces shrimp, large salad with salsa

2:20 snack with comfort food and vitamin C for my perceived illness:
Enough almonds to feed a small country, four tangerines, a banana, warm milk with honey, green tea (decaf), two squares of dark chocolate (86% cacao).

And for dinner I’m having some wild Alaskan salmon, some sweet potato fries that I make with herbs and olive oil, and a huge salad, and then for dessert I might have some dates and cheese.

If I eat like this every day, and I just try to eat really healthfully and all natural, chemical-free foods, then I can’t be anorexic, correct? Anorexia is a mental illness, after all. I just am extremely mindful of how I eat, and my doctor, who I visited yesterday, and who’s my uncle, said that I’m probably the healthiest person he’s ever seen. And then my best friend is like, "lol, you think you eat alot?" and then she lists like, I had pizza and Panda Express and ice cream, and then all this disgusting unhealthy food.

Am I sounding insane when I suggest that she’s trying to get me to be less healthy, and a little fatter? It seems to me that I actually eat a lot, and I’m naturally thin and I tend to burn a lot of calories due to my exercise (I have two hours of tennis with my team five days a week, private hour lessons on Wed and Sun, and I dance an hour and a half two days a week at school, one 45 minute private on Wed, and I run and strength-train for fun when I have time.)

That sounds like an excellent lifestyle! Not one you see often these days!

If you were eating maybe a piece of fruit for breakfast, skipping lunch, then eating barely anything for dinner, I would say you would be anorexic.

Maybe look up an online calorie counter and calculate the calories your eating. Most anorexics will stick to 300-500 calories a day, a normal person will eat 1400-2000, if dieting or younger, around 1200.

Show her the facts of how many calories you eat, and that you just eat healthy calories and do live an active lifestyle.

Difficult parking/turning situation, what should I do?
At the end of my road is a dead-end, and there is a designated turning area for cars. Recently however, quite a lot more houses have been built nearby and people have started parking everywhere without thinking. There is one car which seems to have been abandoned right at the edge of the opening to the turning space on one side, other people park in the same position on the other side (so the cars act like "gate posts" to the turning area – only way I could describe it), and opposite the turning area is the entrance to someones driveway and now instead of parking in their driveway they park outside in front of it. It’s not a very wide road anyway (hence the need for the turning area) but with these cars constantly being parked like this it makes it almost impossible to turn. I don’t wish to cause arguments with my neighbours but it’s getting to be a real problem – I don’t want to scratch my car and I don’t want to scratch anybody else’s car either. Would it be rude of me to leave notes on the windscreens of the cars in question asking them to park a bit more considerately? Sometimes people even park in the actual turning area, even though there’s a very large council sign warning people to keep it clear.

If you think the car has been abandoned then contact the police as it may well have been stolen, if it has not been the the council will eventually remove it after serving the required notice to the last registered keeper and affixing a notice to the car in question. Also any vehicle causing an obstruction on a highway can be booked lines or no lines .

im not sure people would take notice of notes on their windscreens.get in touch with the council to see what they can do.better still put your own driveway in so you can reverse in and drive out.no one can affect you then.i know this is expense but it would save a lot of hassle.

Hi, you have my sympathies it must be very frustrating. on the subject of the abandoned car as long as it has road tax and insured (harder to prove although a friendly Police Support Officer should be able to help), then its legal for it to be there. If it has not got either then you can phone up the DVLA and report it but getting it removed can be a lengthy Business. Leaving your notes on the windscreen might work but can have adverse effects.
My advise to you is to keep a record times/dates of registration numbers & how long for they were blocking the turning circle then report it to the relevant authorities. Also park on you own driveway.
